Welcome to the group Once-upon-a-bjd!
Once-upon-a-bjd is a group, where we aim to help develop our skills, when it comes to expressing our dolls. We can share the photographs we all capture, with each other. You are also able to share with each other BJD writings, as a part of our characters is writing about them, so we have a section also for that aswell!
What makes this group different?
Once-upon-a-bjd is about expressing your dolls personality, rather than a 'beautiful' photograph of a doll or a quick snapshot, we look for what's within. Many of us have character/personalities for our dolls, so why not challenge ourselves to make them shine out in our photographs! As mentioned above, there is a section for writing also, so if you have writen poems/descriptions about your dolls characters you can add to the gallery also
There will be challenges set in future(how regular they will be, is yet to be decided), I hope that you will find them useful.
Rules and regulations:
☆ Only one submission per day, to encourage you to pick your best each day.
☆ Photographs must contain at least one BJD
☆ Please make sure you submit your work to the appropriate folder (e.g. SD,MSD,YOSD etc).
☆ Please post your best shots, this group, is here to challenge you to try and be more creative with your photography, to make your dolls personalities shine. Some quick snap shots don't serve the purpose of putting creativity and thought into a photograph. There are no problems with the level of talent each member has in terms of photography. All this group asks is to put your best effort in, to create artistic photographs.
(Please bare in mind these following things when taking a photo, and try to avoid them: Distracting backgrounds such as a messy room, lighting too dark to see the subject, or vice versa.)
☆ Artistic Nudity is appropriate, anything heavily sexually suggestive may be declined.
☆ No rude/inappropriate comments on others work.
☆ If there are any questions you would like to ask, please feel free to send a note either to the group, or to my dA
Thank you and enjoy!
Hopefully, this group can help you to gradually discover and learn more about your dolls, and your own talent.
Interview with Immortality of SoulHello! March interview is up a day before! This time, the spotlight is on Immortality of Soul, a BJD company also known as IOS. The interview was answered by Jay (the manager), Bora and Bomi (the founders and main sculptors).
The interview is posted both in English and Spanish on my main blog, and all the images were used with permission from IOS. Feel free to share the link, but do not re-post the interview! You can read it, here: http://bit.ly/InterviewIOS
Interview with Eve Studio!I have never posted about this in deviantArt before, but since 2013, I have been doing monthly interviews with several BJD artists and companies. That includes doll makers, seamstress, faceup artists, and more. You can check all of the interviews I have done, in my blog [here]. The interviews are both in English and Spanish, and all of the images were used with permissions of the artists I have interviewed.
This month, as the first spotlight of 2015 (and the first time I'm sharing it on DA, too), the interview is of Eve Studio, known by their 3D-printed pets. Their most famous are the kittens, but they also have dogs, dragons, bunnies, spiders, and now tarsians -they also have a line of human and fantasy dolls.
The interview is at my main blog. I never post it outside my blog and for that I also ask to not repost the interview elsewhere! It is a lot of work to get this done, and I appreciate if yo
A ball jointed doll photo and information book.Interested?
My friend and I are collaborating on this book together.
It is going to be really cool, but we need some writers and photos for different sections.
For example, we need a super high quality photo of a faceup. Not of one on the doll but like in the middle of the process. Unfortunately we're really picky. The doll has to be attractive, the setting and background need to be neat, clean, and professional looking.
We need some photos of various doll families and a photo or two of handmade high quality clothing. No sock dresses or unhemmed edges. Also in a variety of styles! Lolita, Goth, Casual, Fantasy.
Like I said before, We're really really picky so I cannot promise you that your photos will be picked.
There are a few people who I have contacted outright.
Qualifications for your photos:
HIGH QUALITY! (No cell phone, webcam, or shizzy pointandshoot pictures)
PG to very slight PG-13 rating! (If you wouldn't show it to your 7 year old niece, then its not gunna happen.)
